How to finish the Qur'an in Ramadan

The month of the Holy Qur'an is here again. Ramadan, A month when every good deed is multiplied greatly to the extent that no one knows it's quantity except Almighty Allah.  In one way or the other, you and I try to be rewarded by engaging in good deeds and other actions that please Allah, but there is no good deed which is more performed and more pleasing to Almighty Allah in this Holy month of Ramadan than the recitation of the Holy Qur'an because the Holy book was revealed in this blessed month of Ramadan, and each letter of the Holy Qur'an that is pronounced is usually rewarded massively, according to an Hadith.

Narrated Muhammad bin Ka'b Al-Qurazi: "I heard 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud saying: 'The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
"[Whoever recites a letter] from Allah's Book, then he receives the reward from it, and the reward of ten the like of it. I do not say that Alif Lam Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter."
Source : Hadith

If this is the reward for reciting the Holy Qur'an in just any day or month of the year, what more of the reward in the month of the Holy Qur'an itself?

This is one of the reasons why we mostly find many of us with Juz'u (part) or Ajzaa (parts) of the Holy Qur'an in this blessed month, at offices and places of work. Infact, I've been approached by some brothers and sisters in the previous years, who crave for such reward, to teach them how to read the Qur'an properly and fluently prior to Ramadan. It was always my pleasure to do so because I get rewarded as much as they do without any decrease in their reward. Alhamdulillah.

Hence, we have come up with some of the  methods of completing the Holy Qur’an easily according to one's wishes in this coming month of Ramadan.

Here are some frequently asked questions regarding the completion of the Holy Qur'an in Ramadan, such as:

  • How can I Complete the Holy Qur'an within 30 days in the month of  Ramadan?
  • How can I finish Qur'an in Ramadan?
  • How many Qur'an can I finish in Ramadan?
  • Is it necessary to finish Qur'an in Ramadan?

Now, let's analyze some of these questions.

Question: How can I Complete the Holy Qur'an within 30 days in the month of  Ramadan?

Answer: That's very easy for someone who is focused and ready. Even a starter should be able to complete the Holy Qur'an easily, using this method within 30 days.

It can be accomplished by reciting 2 leaflets (front and back, i.e 4 pages) each in each Salah. It could be before or after Salah. And it can be done by reciting a leaflet before Salah and another leaflet after Salah.

  • Al-Fajr: 4 Pages
  • A'Zuhur: 4 pages
  • Al-Asr: 4 pages
  • Al-Magrib: 4 pages
  • Al-Isha: 4 pages

Question: What if I'd like to complete the Holy Qur'an twice within this month?

Answer: It is also easy but you'll need to be quiet fluent and fast a bit for you to achieve this. Since it is compulsory to perform Salah at it's prescribed time. You'll need to make it to the Masjid (Mosque) early, maybe 10 - 15 minutes before Salah. All you have to do is to read 8 pages in each Salah. That is 4 leaflets in each Salah time. You can divide it to fit your desire but if it is done this way, it'll be very easy to complete within 30 days of fasting.

  • Al-Fajr: 8 Pages
  • A'Zuhur: 8 pages
  • Al-Asr: 8 pages
  • Al-Magrib: 8 pages
  • Al-Isha: 8 pages

Question: Is it possible to complete the Holy Qur'an twice in Ramadan with some days left?

Answer: Yeah, you can. You will need to read 25 leaflets each day i.e 50 pages/day. Now divide 50 pages by 5 Obligatory Salah = 10 pages in each Salah time. Doing this will still give you an extra 6 days left in Ramadan.

  • Al-Fajr: 10 Pages
  • A'Zuhur: 10 pages
  • Al-Asr: 10 pages
  • Al-Magrib: 10 pages
  • Al-Isha: 10 pages

Question: I'm fluent and fast in recitation, how can I complete the Holy Qur'an 3 times before the end of Ramadan?

Answer: Maa Sha Allah, that's 60 pages/day. It shouldn't take you much to recite 12 pages in each Salah time. It will give you the opportunity of completing the Holy Qur'an, once, in every 10 days of the month of Ramadan.

  • Al-Fajr: 12 Pages
  • A'Zuhur: 12 pages
  • Al-Asr: 12 pages
  • Al-Magrib: 12 pages
  • Al-Isha: 12 pages

Question: Is it true that one can complete the Holy Qur'an more than 3 times in the month of Ramadan?

Answer: Certainly, one can!. You must be determined, focused and undisturbed. By reciting 100 pages/day, you'll equally complete a whole Qur'an in 6 days, while 200 pages/day will make you complete the Holy Qur'an once in 3 days. If you'd love to complete the Holy Qur'an once in 6 days, here is the procedure to follow:

  • Al-Fajr: 20 Pages
  • A'Zuhur: 20 pages
  • Al-Asr: 20 pages
  • Al-Magrib: 20 pages
  • Al-Isha: 20 pages

You shouldn't be surprised to know that there are some companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that usually complete the Holy Qur'an more than once in a day. Some even complete it in their Salah and Nawafil. Subhanallah, that's too beautiful. Later, some scholars adopted their methods and also took their path, and usually complete the Holy Qur'an more than once in a day while they devote most of their  time to this alone.

May Almighty Allah make this easy for each and everyone of us. You can also earn more rewards by sharing this with other brothers and sisters who are also pondering on how to divide their time during Ramadan in other to complete the Holy Qur'an. Share with contacts and other Islamic groups and be rewarded, InshaAllah.

May the blessings of Almighty Allah be upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, including His entire household and His companions, Aameen.
